Well over a decade ago, Wikitude AR SDK was launched, enabling mobile developers to easily create or integrate augmented reality to their apps with platforms they used and loved. More than 40,000 mobile apps have been created using Wikitude, which got in the hands of millions of users and have significantly shifted the way developers, consumers, workers, gamers and enthusiasts use AR.
As of September 2024, the moment has come to say goodbye and we want to say a full-hearted thank you to all of you, our community, customers and partners for your trust throughout all these years!

Brief insights into the wind down
On the 21st September 2024 all Wikitude services were shut down and stored data become unavailable, as we started announcing in August 2023. After this date, there will be no more updates, Wikitude Studio, Cloud and Studio API have been fully disabled and the associated data deleted soon after. SDK license keys are expected to work only as long iOS, Android, or Windows will not release any breaking changes. If your AR app required accessing image/object targets and augmentations hosted on Wikitude Studio or Cloud servers, kindly note that they have become unavailable, as did the web Studio that allowed generation of wtc’s and wto’s. Similarly, all forms of support have been shut down.
We are grateful for the incredible decade of building augmented reality for mobile, for your support and understanding and we’re looking forward to further support your XR passion via the head worn technology that the team is now working on.
